The lovely brazilian label Bolinhas Records has just released a new EP with Stars in Coma called “Death and Hope”. It’s five tracks with that old school feeling I know you all love. For those of you who are scared/lazy to order things from Brazil I will get my hands on some copies of the CD but right now Bolinhas have a presale so check their myspace out! I will also publish the songs on last.fm shortly. The Tracklist:

1. Death and Hope

2. The Fantasy Youth Club

3. Save

4. Light in Zenith

5. C’mon Drifter

…me and Håkan (aka Joueur Noir/Stars in Coma drummer) went to Kristianstad to record some of Håkan’s new songs in Mattias’ (the SiC basist/guitarist!) small but cosy flat. It went really well and we recorded vocal/bass/guitar/noise on six songs. Mattias was an excellent sound engineer while my role was to sit in the corner of the control room and playing chess on my laptop. I’m not very good at chess so I lost. On the picture below you can see Håkan’s main inspiration for the vocal takes:

All of the songs are killer hits and when everything’s recorded I will mix them. And after that, Poland will love Joueur Noir even more!

So I got this crazy idea to record an improvised song with just my guitar and my voice. The condition could be better, I’m actually having a cold at the moment so my voice is even worse than usual. But I think it became a pretty cute song anyway…silly but cute.

Here it is:

Cold Midnight Adlib

So now a have a quest for all your artists out there, record an improvised song and let us all hear it! It’s fun!

As you can see the site has turned itself into a blog! I think it’s nice and I plan to fill the site with lots of various stuff. If it’s something special you wanna see here, just let me know.

cheers

The new year party was a blast! Unfortunately I forgot to record our concert (we had it setup but someone forgot to press rec…hrmm). The Stars in Coma band was a quartet this night with Lisa handling both bass, guitar and backing vocals on several songs. Well done! We played the following songs:

Borderline
Amelie
Invisibility Trick
Lifetime of Pent-up Sadness
I Saw My Heart Passing By
People Put Up With A Lot of Shit
Live Forever (Oasis cover)

Later that night it was time for our new founded band Efter 12 (consisting of me, Lisa, Mattias and Håkan) to play some well-chosen covers. We were all a little too tipsy to play but we made a great show anyway.

2008 has been such a crazy year for me. Lots of ups and downs and periods of drifting. Some good things happened though, I released my first proper CD and we went on our first proper tour abroad (in lovely Italy!). We also did some really nice gigs in both London and Stockholm. Some really sad things happened though which kind of took away the joy of the good things this year. I broke up with my longtime girlfriend in the beginning of the summer and that occurence really affected me (doh!) both for the good and for the worse. And that event probably lead to the most crazy and emotional summer of my life. I could do a double album about that someday.

It takes a long time to process a five year long relationship and all the memories we have together. I’m such a sensitive person so I have a hard letting go of things that emotionally affect me. It would be so much easier to be one of the guys who just shakes it off. Instead, I get paralyzed and then I can’t really get anything done and then I just get more miserable and that spiral isn’t very healthy at all. Despite my paralyed state I’ve written a lot of songs during this latter part of the year and I guess you will hear them in the future in some way, but the thing is, I’ve really lost intestest in the whole music business. There’s an album recorded for quite some time now but it won’t be released in the normal way cause we simply don’t buy CD’s anymore so why should force someone else to buy them? But there will be artwork and there will be good pop music so don’t worry. :)

In the beginning of this year I was full of hope for the future, but for the last part of the year I’ve felt slightly cynical and bitter and really don’t want to feel that way. But 2009 will be a new start I’m sure, I wanna feel the excitement and joy I did when I recorded my first EP or when I wrote “If I Could Describe”. And I’m sure I will cause music is a very strong and positive force!

Merry X-mas and Happy New Year!

Hi there, you might wanna know what’s going on with Stars in Coma at the moment. I guess I’m in a sort of ‘introvert recording mode ‘right now mostly messing around with frequencies, harmonies, tunings and other exciting stuff. There’s a couple of EP’s lined up for release but I really don’t know anything about actual releasedates yet!

I’m also looking for others music to mess around with at the moment, so if you want something to be produced, mixed or/and mastered just send me an e-mail and we’ll work something out!
